Stirring hotel coffee with a hotel pen
Waiting for the phone to ring again
I want to take back that thing I said,
Make it all better and go back to bed.

I couldn't reach you on the telephone,
Internet's down and I have to go.
Fifteen euros and six time zones
And the last thing I said was in a nasty tone.

Then there was the postcard I never sent
Explaining what I really meant.

There are some things you will never know.
I've been holding on for two, it's time to let go.

I left you hanging in an awkward place,
Company came but I couldn't say.
It's not that I lied or was ashamed
But when you asked me now, well it looked that way.

Your face is frozen in a nasty grin.
Lobby's crowded, can't hear anything.
It's not what I imagined when I took the gig.
I'm trying to put my finger on the day things changed.
